Farrell Wins Second Consecutive Steamboat Springs Bull Riding Title

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. --- For rodeo cowboys who often travel as many as 200 days out of the year, sometimes it is nice to be able to go to the same place more than once.

That certainly has been the case for bull rider Will Farrell from Thermopolis, Wyo., who has included the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo on his schedule any time he had a free day. On July 3rd, he rode Bad Company Rodeo’s bull Wild Wild West for 80 points. That held through the July 4th performance to win the third event of the 10-rodeo series.

Farrell also won the second rodeo in the series, July 30th on Bad Company Rodeo’s All Jacked Up with an 86-point effort. He has won $1,566 here so far and if he gets a chance is hoping to add to that.

“I was excited to come and get on these bulls,” he said. “Winning two out of the series is pretty cool. My family got to be here with me last weekend, so that made it even better.”

Bad Company Rodeo will finish their run at Steamboat this weekend on July 7th. Their horse Moulin Rouge took a bareback rider to first place for the third time during the Fourth of July rodeo. For the second time in the series Travis Carlson from Big Piney, Wyo., rode the nine-year-old black mare for 84 points. He also got on her at the first event and scored 85. During the second rodeo, it was Kaylon Knudson from Arvada, Wyo., that rode her for 87 points.

The Fourth of July rodeo performance ended with an outstanding fireworks display shot off of Howelsen Hill. Fireworks and the rodeo were enjoyed by a standing-room-only crowd.

Rodeo action continues at the Brent Romick Arena on Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.
